Advisory Council

Contributing leadership. Shared responsibility. Collective progress.

DAA’s Advisory Council brings together senior communications professionals who contribute perspective, insight, and guidance to support the Alliance’s mission and priorities.

Advisory Council members help DAA:

  • Sense emerging challenges and opportunities across the industry

  • Inform programming, research, and convenings

  • Strengthen accountability and relevance in communications leadership

This is a contribution-based role designed for leaders who want to help shape the field — not just participate in it.

Who the Advisory Council Is For

The Advisory Council is suited for communications leaders who:

  • Hold senior roles across agencies, organizations, or institutions

  • Bring lived experience, professional expertise, and thoughtful perspective

  • Are committed to equity, accountability, and strengthening industry standards

  • Are interested in contributing insight rather than governing operations

(Council membership is distinct from DAA’s Board of Directors.)

What Participation Looks Like

Advisory Council members may be invited to:

  • Participate in select briefings or listening sessions

  • Offer feedback on emerging issues, research themes, or initiatives

  • Serve as thought partners to DAA leadership and staff

  • Support industry convenings or learning moments as appropriate

Time commitment and engagement vary by initiative.

Expression of Interest

  • Signals interest — it is not a formal appointment

  • Allows DAA to follow up as opportunities align

  • Helps ensure a council that reflects diverse perspectives across the field
